Strategic Conversations

A Word on Strategic Conversations

Strategic conversations are the interactions with your leaders, peers and direct reports that explicitly connect people to purpose. Are you having them? Every single exchange you have with someone can be strategic – from setting expectations, to deciding on your communication style, to giving positive or constructive feedback. Before any interaction, ask yourself, “How do I want leave this person feeling after our exchange?” and “What do I want to inspire them to know/feel/do/be?”. Beginning, as Steven Covey has said, with the end in mind is what strategy is all about. Being strategic is the discipline of dynamic connection: connection of people to purpose, connection of Point A to Point B, connection of today to the future. It’s dynamic because it – and you – and they – are always changing. Be Strategic. Be Uncommon.
